Cook Announces Grants for Greene County Community Initiatives
January 14, 2025
GREENE - Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) is pleased with the recent announcement by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), which will award two separate Greene County initiatives nearly $300,000 in grants. This funding aims to revitalize distressed areas and improve the lives of low-income individuals.
The Way Community Center of Greene County will receive $276,300 in funds to address both mental and physical loneliness across the county. The funds will go to a project which aims to create a safe, fully equipped, multipurpose space for intergenerational interaction through educational, recreational, cultural, social and community activities.
The Community Foundation of Greene County will receive $32,808 to combat hunger in school. These funds will be used for the Weekend Backpack Food Program, which will distribute food for students every weekend at Greene County’s schools. The grant will assist 255 students weekly throughout the county.
“I am grateful to see support for these meaningful projects to help people of all ages in our Greene County communities,” Cook said. “Our county is at its strongest when we are together. I am always pleased to support projects and goals aimed at creating a safe environment for our children to grow in the 50th District.”
The NAP grants reflect the investment in Pennsylvania’s communities to foster innovation, job creation and economic development. The funding is expected to have a lasting, positive impact on local communities, strengthening both public services and community-based programs.
