Agriculture to Be Honored at Capitol During ‘Blessing of the Balers’

WHAT: Supporters of the state’s agriculture industry will gather at the state Capitol for the Fourth Annual Blessing of the Balers. The event is hosted by state Rep. Bud Cook (R-Greene/Washington) and helps draw attention to the state’s top industry. It also marks the annual celebration of May as Beef Month. Tractors and balers will be on-site for the event.

Those planning on attending the ceremony can register on Cook’s website to receive a free burger.

WHO: Cook, Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russell Redding, the Rev. Donald Wilson of Greene County and Pennsylvania Cattlemen's Association President Bill Devore will offer remarks.

In attendance will be members of the Pennsylvania Livestock Association, Pennsylvania Beef Council, Center for Beef Excellence, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and PennAG, farmers and agriculture producers, lawmakers and others.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 5, at 11 a.m. with remarks beginning at 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: Commonwealth Avenue behind the state Capitol building in Harrisburg.

LIVESTREAM: For members of the media who can’t be in Harrisburg who can’t attend the event in person, the Blessing of the Balers will be streamed on Cook’s website, along with his Facebook page.
